Summary
I founded Stratagem after having worked with energy suppliers and consultants for 20 years that I wanted to build something different.
I started at British Gas in Leicester before moving to work in sales with what was then called Total Gas & Power before venturing into the consultancy world.
In 2017, with the team at Energy & Carbon Management, we won an Industry award as “Consultant of the Year” at the well-known TELCA Awards.
Eventually I progressed into the world of energy optimisation & strategic partnerships before dipping back into the supplier market - working with brokers and consultants to develop relationships and sales.
It was there that I saw that the quality of broker and consultant wasn’t as good as it could or should be – so with that I took the risk of building Stratagem.
I built Stratagem to deliver C-Suite level services to what I feel is an underserved market – SME to mid-market – putting a tailored, relationship led service at the heart of everything we do.
In the energy market, when the word “risk” is used – everyone associates it with wholesale energy markets. My view is that “risk” applies to anything that can affect a business’s budget – from energy markets to poor supplier billing to compliance regimes.
I also built this with family in mind – I have 3 children – and one of them, my 14-year-old son is neurodivergent. I keep thinking about his future in particular – knowing that employment rates for autistic adults are incredibly low and job retention is difficult. So, by building a company that, if he chooses, could be a home to him for experience or in the long term is incredibly important.
It’s this commitment to him and to my other children to help support them as they grow that drives me to need and want to deliver outstanding, honest and transparent results to clients – to support them, to guide and help them plan for the future – so they can support themselves, their employees and their families too.
