I don't like the idea of just accepting a thing, without really understanding it. I'm sure you'll agree why:
→ accepting a 'thing' suggests that this thing is an anomaly. That's doing it a disservice
→ accepting something blindly means that we don't really know anything about it - we're just part of the noise and debate of it
→ we completely disregard the important of actually understanding the very thing we claim to accept, and avoid learning anything about it
So then, are we truly accepting of these things, or do we just claim we are?
To be truly accepting of something, we must :
➡︎ understand what it is we are celebrating
➡︎ why it is important
➡︎ and what it means for others
and only then will we be truly and intrinsically accepting of something rather than being part of the debate of acceptance.
